Earlier this month, our team headed down to National Harbor, MD for the annual Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development (SHSMD) Conference. More than 1,000 healthcare marketers gathered in person for education and networking events over four days. While nothing can compare to being there in person, our team is here to share their SHSMD 2022 highlights. 

“I attended an interesting session on patient acquisition strategy by Vanderbilt, Baylor, and Cleveland Clinic. It was fascinating to hear about how team structures have changed post-covid. The organizations mostly abandoned their large office spaces in favor of getting together as teams monthly. Vanderbilt also innovated the way they approached service line marketing. Rather than having one person assigned to multiple service lines, they opted to handle each marketing request as they came in to respond more nimbly.”

“What I enjoyed most was the opportunity to connect in person with so many colleagues. Between the live keynote speeches and the great networking opportunities, the schedule was packed. In addition to so many strategic healthcare marketing sessions, I attended a fascinating talk related to innovation in patient experience. WakeMed in North Carolina presented their all-access, one-stop app for patients. From viewing emergency room wait times to parking information, this app is making a significant impact on the patient experience. It even provides turn-by-turn directions within the hospital walls!”

“I was able to attend a presentation with Rush who did a wonderful job of outlining their marketing strategy to achieve their ambitious reputation goals in certain service lines. Dr. Amit Phull co-presented, providing firsthand context for what physicians are facing every day. Rush recognized that as doctors are inundated with digital information and technological workflow overload, it’s critical for hospital marketing content to cut through the noise. Rush created campaigns that outlined interesting and innovative content that is relevant to each targeted physician's practice and specialty to increase results and reputation.”
